West: Tofino/Pacific Rim

Wide open Wilderness Adventures await, no matter where you turn from your Klehkoot Marina Vistas home.

Turn west and you'll be in Pacific Rim National Park, site of the famous West Coast Trail. Slightly north is Ucluclet and the wild surf and open beaches of Tofino. Surfing is a popular activity and lessons are available for beginners.

The wild expanse of Long Beach, with the Pacific Ocean pounding on the shore, draws a million visitors every year to experience its beauty and solitude. Now you will live only a short drive away.

Or you can make a short jog east to Port Alberni and the head of the Alberni Inlet, a 40-kilometre-long saltwater channel that takes you to the western shore of the Pacific Ocean. Here you'll find opportunities for fishing, kayaking, hiking and more.

You may want to explore the Vancouver Island rainforest - including waterfalls, bird watching, hiking and kayaking - either on your own or with the guidance of a local tour company. You can also explore the region from the sea, aboard the MV Lady Rose or the MV Frances Barkley. View the wilderness and wildlife from the water side.

Or you can explore the Broken Group Islands, an ideal location for kayaking. The west coast is also popular with experienced scuba divers, expecially for the diversity of marine life and the number of wrecks.
